5HR02 AC 2.3 – Assessment Guidance

Assessment focus: Assess strengths and weaknesses of recruitment and selection methods.

What the existing site guidance says

Assess validity, reliability, fairness, cost, accessibility and candidate experience.

How to approach the task

Start with the command word and make sure every part of the question is answered. Use the case or workplace context where the brief requires application. Distinguish explanation from analysis, assessment and evaluation: higher-order verbs require reasoning about relationships, implications, alternatives or judgement rather than a list of facts.

  • Define or frame the key concept where needed.
  • Use relevant evidence to support substantive claims.
  • Apply the discussion to the organisation, case or workplace context.
  • Address limitations, risks or alternative perspectives when the command verb requires them.
  • End with a clear, justified conclusion where a judgement is required.
